The Janitor and the CEO

Do you know what I think this world needs the most?

But what I really think this world needs most are people who are humble.

As Tim McGraw said…

“Hold the door say please say thank you
Don’t steal, don’t cheat, and don’t lie
I know you got moutains to climb but
Always stay humble and kind”

(Yes I like country music because country music is AWESOME! Bite me!)

I do not believe a CEO is any better than a janitor. A guy who lays pipe is no better than a guy who serves you your morning coffee.

People have this idea of what is “right” and “wrong” or “better” and “worse” or even what is “more distinguished” and what is “less distinguished.”

Some may say a CEO’s job is important. Hell, most people would say this. He or she manages an entire company. That is big. No one can deny that.

But without that janitor, without that one person cleaning the floors and scrubbing the toilets and taking out the trash, that company would be a nicely furnished yet disgusting garbage dump with a rather peculiar smell of moldy chicken salad sandwich-ends and rotten fruit.

Those who put themselves or others up on a pedestal because they have a superiority complex are the problem. No no is any better than anyone else. We all put our pants on one leg at a time and we all end up 6 feet under at the end of our life.

If people spent more time supporting one another this world would be a better place. Build one another. Respect one another. And remember, stay humble.
